Life Lessons

This page is dedicated to the life lessons we are teaching our children, beginning at the age of one. Some are serious, some are fun, all are worth learning.

  • Week of August 4- Poop is not a toy.
  • Week of August 11- Eating your crib is ill-advised and Your bottle is not a rocket-ship.
  • Week of August 18- Lily is not a horse and thus will not be ridden as one. She also does not enjoy being strangled or having her face mauled.
  • Week of August 25- Boundaries are essential to emotional and mental health. No one can make you feel bad, you choose to feel bad.
  • Week of September 1- Work is inherently good. Work is not a result of sin or the fall. It is part of God’s original design for humanity. We are His workmanship created to do His work. (Ephesians 2:8-10)
  • Week of September 8- We do not live in a nudest colony. Thus, clothing is not optional. No shirt, no shorts, no service.
  • Week of September 15- Two objects (a.k.a. two infants) cannot occupy the same space at the same time. #Science
  • Week of September 22- Good food takes time.
  • Week of September 29- You may recall the first life lesson, “Poop is not a toy.” Well, please also note that Poop is not food. Suggestion to parents, do not bathe your child after a high fiber breakfast.
  • Week of October 6- Share your toys, not your germs.
  • Week of October 13- Unbeknownst to Theo, everything is not a Mama.
  • Week of October 20- Not all toys are balls. A boat is not a ball, a cup is not a ball, a large barn is not a ball. Therefore, not all toys should be thrown.
  • Week of October 27- Biting is not a suitable way to ask your sibling for a toy.
  • Week of November 3- The number of cause and effect relationships in the world are too many to count. Cause: You put your hand in your sister’s mouth. Effect: She bites you. Cause: She put her hand in your mouth. Effect: You bite her.
  • Week of November 10- While patience, strength and energy may waver, Love never will.
  • Week of November 17- Good morning smiles and Good night kisses make the best bread in the sandwich of life.
  • Week of November 24- Thanksgiving is not only a holiday but a daily practice that fosters joy.
  • Week of December 1- Silence is truly golden.
  • Week of December 8- Hark! The herald Angels sing, Glory to the newborn King. The true reason for the season!
  • Week of December 15- Whining is not the best way to spread Christmas Cheer, please do not whine loud for all to hear.
  • Week of December 22- Poop is not like Christmas Joy. You do not need to spread it near or far.
  • Week of December 29- Unbeknownst to Bella, everything is not a Dada.
  • Week of January 12- “The LORD is good to those who wait for him, to the soul who seeks him.” (Lamentations 3:25)
  • Week of January 26- There are four words I hope that my children are never afraid to ask or say, “Why” and “I don’t know.”
